Welcome to the Cumulus Student Camp 2025, a prestigious international event that brings together the most talented students, teachers, and professionals in the fields of art, design, and media. Organized by the Cumulus Association, this camp is an opportunity for collaboration, learning, and creation.

For the first time in Africa, this event will be hosted by Africa Design School, the first design school in West Africa with an international vision.

The Cumulus Student Camp is a special initiative of the international Cumulus Association, which includes nearly 300 universities and institutions of art, design, and media from around the world. This camp provides a platform for exchange and learning between students, teachers, and professionals, with a focus on:

Registration

Eligibility:

  • Undergraduate students (2nd year or higher) or postgraduate students enrolled at Cumulus member institutions.
  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Proficiency in English (courses and presentations will be in English).
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months after the event.

  • 300 € per person (includes all camp activities).

Accommodation:

How can I travel to Benin?
Regular flights operate to Cotonou. The Cardinal Bernardin Gantin International Airport is the main entry point.

What documents are required for the visa?

Are meals included?
Snacks and light meals will be provided during the event. Recommendations for local restaurants will also be shared.

 

Visa Process

What documents are required for the visa?  

Participants will need the following documents for their visa application:  

– A valid passport (at least 6 months of validity after the event).  

– A visa application form (available on the official Benin immigration website or at consulates).  

– An invitation letter from the event organizers (provided after registration).  

– Proof of return flight ticket.  

– Recent passport-size photographs.  

– Proof of accommodation (provided by the organizers upon request).  

 

How long does it take to obtain a Benin visa? 

The processing time for a Benin visa generally takes 5–10 business days, but it may vary depending on the country where you are applying. We recommend applying at least 4 weeks in advance to avoid delays.  

Are there visa exemptions for certain countries?  

Yes, citizens of certain African and international countries may not need a visa for short stays in Benin. Please check the official Benin immigration website or contact your local consulate to confirm whether you qualify for a visa exemption.  

 

Health and Safety

 

Are specific vaccinations required to travel to Benin?

Yes, participants are required to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Benin. Additionally, vaccinations for typhoid, hepatitis A and B, and routine immunizations (MMR, tetanus, etc.) are recommended. Please consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.  

What health measures are in place for participants? 

The organizers will follow all recommended health and safety protocols, including:  

– Access to sanitization stations at the event venues.  

– First aid and medical assistance on-site.  

– Assistance with finding nearby healthcare facilities if needed.  

 

Travel and Arrival

What are the direct flight options to Cotonou?

Cotonou is served by direct international flights from cities such as Paris, Istanbul, Casablanca, Addis Ababa, and several West African capitals. Participants are encouraged to book their tickets early to secure the best routes and prices.  

 

Will there be an airport welcome service? 

Yes, a reception team will be present at Cardinal Bernardin Gantin International Airport to greet participants and assist with transportation to their accommodations. Details will be shared closer to the event date.

What language will the event be conducted in?

The primary language of the event is English. 

Logistics

Are there reliable local transportation options?

Yes, reliable transportation options such as taxis and ride-hailing services are available in Cotonou. 

Will local SIM cards or Wi-Fi be available? 

Participants will have the opportunity to purchase local SIM cards upon arrival. Wi-Fi will be available at the event venues.

 

Materials and Equipment

What tools or materials should participants bring? 

Participants are advised to bring the following:  

– A laptop with necessary design or creative software installed.  

– A universal power adapter.  

– Sketchbooks, pens, and other creative tools.
